Lagoon...it's where fun is

So Steph, Jen, and I had a lovely day at Lagoon last Saturday. It was filled with stomach-churning rides, floats in the "moat" at Lagoona Beach, and of course 14-year-old couples around every corner.

To end this most perfect of all days, we decided to ride the carousel. This has always been one of my favorite rides. Lame, I know, but it reminds me of the movie "Mary Poppins". For those of you who have not seen this classic in awhile, let me refresh your memory. So on one of her many adventures, they hop through a chalk picture that Bert has drawn and end up in this amazing cartoon world where they ride on a carousel and magically the horses bounce away from the carousel and they end up in a horse race where of course Mary Poppins wins. And of course this is all portrayed through song and dance.

But getting back to the carousel at Lagoon. So I'm pretty sure we were the only adults in line for the carousel who did not have a small child with them, but oh well. The ride attendent lady opened the gate and in we ran to pick out the best horse. Slowly, it begins going up and down. "Giddy-up, Hank the Horse!" I yell as I playfully slap the horse. Then the little girl in front of me follows my lead and starts doing the same thing.
Then over the intercom, the grumpy ride attendent lady announces, "Do not smack the horses. I repeat, do not smack the horses." For reals?!? First of all, the horse is fake. Secondly, I'm pretty sure the horse is made out of a sturdy fiber glass material--not something that I can easily damage (unless I had super-human strength, which sadly I do not). So pretty much the ride attendent lady was just a fun-killer. I'm sure Mary Poppins would have some choice words for her.
So if you're ever at Lagoon riding the carousel, know that you were warned about the "smacking horses" rule.
